Attention Focus

How to Play:

  1. Focus on the center of the task area (marked by a small circle)
  2. Click only on GREEN targets - ignore RED distractors and GRAY neutral items
  3. Targets and distractors will appear randomly across the screen
  4. Some distractors will move to test your selective attention
  5. Maintain focus and accuracy as distractions increase

Scoring: +10 for correct targets, -5 for wrong clicks, accuracy bonus

Tip: Keep your eyes on the center and use peripheral vision to detect targets!

What is Attention Focus?

Attention Focus is a sustained attention game that tests your ability to maintain concentration over time while responding selectively to specific stimuli. The game presents a continuous stream of items, and you must respond to target items while ignoring distractors. This measures your sustained attention, selective attention, and inhibitory control — cognitive abilities essential for productivity and learning in an age of constant distraction.

Cognitive Benefits of Attention Focus

Attention is the gateway to all other cognitive processes — without the ability to focus, memory, reasoning, and learning all suffer. Research from Harvard University shows that people spend nearly 47% of their waking hours with wandering minds, which is associated with lower happiness and productivity. Training sustained attention has been shown to improve academic performance, reduce mind-wandering, and enhance the ability to resist distractions. Studies on attention training programs report improvements in reading comprehension, task completion speed, and even emotional regulation.

How to Improve Your Attention Focus Score

Before playing, minimize external distractions — silence notifications, find a quiet space, and set a clear intention to focus. During the game, develop a consistent rhythm for scanning stimuli rather than reacting impulsively. Practice the "reset" technique: when you notice your attention drifting, gently redirect it without self-criticism. Mindfulness meditation has been scientifically shown to complement attention training — even 10 minutes daily can improve your baseline focus. Track your scores over time to identify when in the day your attention is naturally strongest.
